Abstract:
The present paper has studied the technology of manufacturing components made of metal fibre reinforced composite lubricant materials, with the emphasis on the influence of metal fibre reinforcing effect on the properties of lubricant materials. It was shown by experiments that metal fibre matrix exhibits high strength, plasticity and good permeability (the rupture strength limit σ
b and the impact toughness α
k of fibre matrix being 2~15 times and 5~17 times higher than those of P/M counterpart respectively). The materials composed with solid lubricant not only present superior mechanical properties, but also contribute to lubricant permeability, storage and percolation because of their high interconnected porosity and honeycomb-like structure. As a result, the structure provided a ideal lubricant source and obviously improved the wearability, wear-in effect and workability. The components made of this materials have been demonstrated by experiment to reach predictive results. The material will be a new type of promising materials.
