Abstract
Melt-spun Ti-modified 316L stainless steel ribbon exhibits a typical rapid solidification microstructure and homogenious chemical composition. The microstructure consists of fine-scale columnar and equiaxed grains. The cell spacing measured is about 0.2 μm The average cooling rate calculated is 106℃/s. A region of featureless microstructure exists, indicating a high undercooling during solidification. The nucleation undercooling calculated is about 200 K.
