INVESTIGATION ON ADDITION OF RARE-EARTH ELEMENT IN YGR8 CEMENTED CARBIDE DRAWING DIE

  • The transverse rupture strength and impact toughness of a new type of YGRS cemented carbide made by adding a small amount of rare-earth additives has increased by more than 10% and the working life of the YGRS cemented carbide drawins die is about two times as long as traditional YGS drawing die. EMPA, EDS and X-ray diffraction have been used to analyze the microstructure of YGRS alloy and to explain the strengthening mechanism of rare-earth element to YGS alloy.
