Abstract
This article deals with the effect of the different amounts of copper and carbon additions and sintering temperature on the properties of Fe-P-C-Cu system alloys and their size shrinkage after sintering. It is shown experimentally that the satisfactory results will be obtained, if the composition of the alloy is Fe-0.6%P-1.9%C-0.7~1.0% Cu which is sintered at 1090~1110℃ for 2.5h. The experimental contrast of the properties and size shrinkage between Fe-P-C-Cu alloys and Fe-C-Cu alloys was made when these alloys were used in making bicycle bell gears.
