STUDY ON SELF-PROPAGATING HIGH-TEMPERATURE SYNTHESIS(SHS) FOR MANUFACTURE OF β-SiC CERAMIC MATERIALS

  • The process of synthesizing β-SiC by using pre-heated carbon powder and silicon powder has been theoritically explained. The optional technological parameters have been put forward, X ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and particle size analysis of synthesized fine particle β-SiC powder have been done. A more economic and high effective way to produce fine particle pure β-SiC powder by SHS process has been proved.
