INVESTIGATION OF THE CHEMICAL COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN TiAl ALLOY AND CERAMIC MOLD MATERIALS AT HIGH TEMPERATURE

  • The chemical compatibility between TiAl hased alloy and ceramiC mold materials at 1000℃has been studied. After heat treated at 1000 ℃ in air for 2 hours,the interface between TiAl alloy sample and ceramic mold material was analyzed with X-ray diffraction and energy-dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX). Except oxides such as TiO2 and Al2O3,no other compound was found in the interfsce. Therefore,TiAl alloy showed gial chemical compatibility with ceramic mold materials used in the investigation,and it is practicable to make ceramic mold used in TiAl POwder metallurgical technology from the ceramic mold materials mentioned above.
