AN INVESTIGATION ON HIGH-TEMPERATURE MATERIALS FOR GUIDE RING IN VM TYPE HELIUM CRYOGENERATOR

  • The VM type cryogenerator is a mini-device using heat imput from outside. Its key component is a self-lubricating guide ring working in a hot cavity at high temperature from 600 to 700℃. This paper describes the investigations and results through practical operation, which showed that the self-lubricating Ta ( Mo, Re, Ni )-MoS2 materials have suprior physico-mechanical properties and wear-resistance and good machinability.They can meet all technical requirements of VM type helium cryogenerator. The average radial wearability of this guide ring after 500 hours' testing was 2.1×105 mm/h. The estimated service life of this ring may be over 5000 hours.
