INFLUENCE OF ADDING Cu ELEMENT ON PROPERTIES OF Al/Al₂O₃ COMPOSITE MATERIALS

The possibility of sintering Al/Al₂O₃ by hot pressing was investigated in this paper. The microstructure and phase composition of the composite after addition of 5%Cu were analyzed by SEM and XRD. The influene of Cu on hardness and wear resistance was studied. The results obtained have shown that the addition of Cu can obviously improve the mechanical properties of this material and increase the amount of Al₂O₃.
