THE APPLICATION OF POWDER METALLURGY TECHNIQUE TO MANUFACTURE OF SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS

Abstract
In recent years, several powder metallurgy processes have been developed as alternatives to the conventional processes for fabricating practical superconducting materials which are used for building high field magnets. A brief review about the fabrication technique、status and promise of some processes including cold powder process、hot powder process、infiltration process、intermediate compound powder process and others were presented in this paper. The improved performances of powder metallurgy processed multifilamentary composites at high field and the fact that some Small high field magnets have been built, making processes attractive for practical applicaton. Some processes have been extended from laboratory scale to indurtrial production. Some disadvantages of those processes were also outlined in the paper.
