STUDY ON SYNTHESIS OF TiC IN Al/TiC COMPOSITE MATERIALS

  • This paper has studied the reactive process,temperature characteristics and the influence oftitanium powder Particle size during the preparation of Al/TiC composite materials by reactive synthesis method,and discussed the mechanism of reactive synthesis. The microstructure of TiC in Al/TiCcomposite materials has been observed by SEM. Results show that Al/TiC composite materials can bemade by the reactive synthesis of pure components. The reinforced phase of the composite materialsobtained features in fine size(0. 1~1μm) and homogeneous distribution. The particle size of titaniumpowder exerts greater influence on the temperature characteristics in reactive process and has no influence on the composition of produced phase and the morphology of TiC.
