A NEW TYPE OF P/M MATERIALS FOR GAS AND LIQUID SEALING

  • The Cu-C-LiF and Cu-C-CaF P/M sealing materials described in present paper are a new type of gas and liquid sealing materials with low friction coefficient high obrasive resistance and long performance durability,and suitable for the dynamic sealing under the pressure of about 98N.Their properties are better than those of metal-impregnated graphite sealing materials and their lifetime is increased by 4-6 times compared with the latter.This paper focuses attention on describing the manufacture of Cu-C-LiF and Cu-C-CaF materials, the determination of their friction coefficient and abrasiveness and the effects of adding elements on abrasiveness. All of these are rudimentarily analysed and discussed.
