DESULFURATION AND NITROGEN PICKUP OF MATERIALS IN NITROGEN ATMOSPHERE

The present paper has described the relations between sulfur loss and hardness, dimensional change and the composition of nitrogen based sintering atmosphere, of sulfur additive to that of Mns on desulfuration and the properties of sintered compact, and illustrated the relations between nitrogen absorption in the surface of austenite stainess steel forged materials and the parameters of annealing process. The influences of nitrogen content of atmosphere on the physical properties of sintered iron and on the corrosion-resistant properties of sintered stainless steel and the important differences of nitrogen pickup of stainless steel and forged steel materials have been pointed out.
