TiB2 powders were synthesized by the thermal explosion mode of self propagating high temperature synthesis(SHS) from Ti(or TiH2),Al and B powders.The effects of TiH2 powders and synthesis temperature on the process of TiB2 combustion reaction were studied.The mechanism of TiB2 formation were discussed.
