Abstract
The producing processes of Fe-Cu based powder metallurgy frictional material used for heavy-load machinery braking were presented. The matrix of the frictional material, the effect of the frictional components and the functional mechanism of Mo2O3 added were also investigated. The results show that the frictional coefficient increases with the increase in the total amount of Sic and SiO2(amount of SiC is the equal of SiO2);the wear rate of the material decreases and then increases, and holds a minimum value. Mo2O3 added not only increases the frictional coefficient to some extent, but also decreases remarkably the wear rate of the material. A Fe-Cu based frictional material used for heavy-load machinery braking which has excellent frictional wear behaviour and low cost was developed.
