A STUDY OF RAPIDLY SOLIDIFICATED A1-Si ALLOY POWDER MADE BY CENTRIFUGAL ATOMIZATION PROCESS

  • Rapidly solidificated Al-Si alloy powder has been manufactured by using self-made centrifugal atomization apparatus. Detail analysis of technological parameters influencing particle shape and distribution of alloy powder has been made. Results show that initial atomizing temperature and disc rotating speed have great effects on particle shape and particle size distribution. In case of an initial temperature of 780℃ and a disc rotating speed of 36000r/min, alloy B powder exhibits more regular shape and better distribution with solid solution and fine eutectic structure. Furthermore, the Si contents in solid solution increase with the decrease of particle size and the increase of cooling speed.
