Abstract
The flexural strength of an advanced ceramic tool material and its statistical characteristics have been studied experimentally in this paper, according to which hot pressing parameters are optimized and the fracture feature is also analysed. Results of linear regression analysis and K-S distribution fit test show that the flexural strength of this kind of ceramic tool material obeys three parameter Weibull distribution very well. A statistical model is built which can be used to explain the size effect of the flexural strength.
