INFLUENCE OF MOLYBDENUM ON PROPERTIES OF TUNGSTEN BASE ALLOYED ANVIL

  • The influences of sintering temperature and the alloy composition on the properties of the alloys both at room and high temperature and of the alloy composition on the electric conductive properties of the alloys have been studied. The results have shown that the alloy containing W 90wt% and with Ni:Fe=2:1 and sintered at 1450℃ for 1.5h has optimum properties. The addition of Mo offers the advantages for increasing the strength, hardness and high temperature properties of the alloys, and improving the combined properties of tungsten base alloyed anvil. Mo is help to make W grains fine. Mo dissolves into W phase and binder phase with the result that strengthens the two phases. In case of no obvious difference of elongation between W phase and binder phase, breaks along interface of W-binder phase will be revealed in most of the fracture surface with the decreasement of the amount of fracture surface through grains.
